STATE GOVERNMENT FUNDING INJECTION INTO REGIONAL COMMUNITIES

More than $700,000 has been injected into 39 regional local governments and communities to provide job opportunities for young people and build stronger partnerships with the community sector.

A further $450,000 has been awarded through the Youth Development Scholarship and Youth Development Traineeship programs to 30 local governments.

An additional six grants were awarded through the Community Development Scholarship Program to offer accredited training to country local government employees to build their capacity to deliver community development initiatives within their community.

The funding will enable young people in the regions to develop long-term employment skills and expose them to future employment opportunities within local government.

Regional Development Minister, Hon. Alannah MacTiernan, MLC, said “Local governments in the regions experience unique challenges such as remoteness, limited economic opportunities and an ageing population.  These grants will give our regional local governments more opportunity to develop the capacity to deliver the services regional communities need.”

Congratulations to the Local Government Authorities in the Bunbury Geographe Region who were successful in being awarded grants.  Recipients in our  area of the 2017/2018 round of funding can be found in the attached list.
